JM valeting is pleased to announce the addition of car wrapping to complement its valeting and detailing services.

WHAT IS CAR WRAPPING / VEHICLE WRAPPING?

Vehicle wrapping can be used in 2 main contexts:

1) As a form of advertising, in which a vehicle is partially or completely covered in coloured graphics as a means of promoting products or services.

2) As a method of car care, enjoyment or personalisation of your vehicle.

Previously, extensive artwork on a vehicle was limited by difficult-to-use stick-on graphics or hand painting the vehicle itself. Today however, vehicle wrapping is achieved using large sheets of printed or plain vinyl that can be easily heated, contorted and applied to all vehicle surfaces. It is also easy to remove from the car bodywork when desired, allowing the original car to return back to normal. Wrapping can be applied to individual panels or the entire bodywork, in a range of colours and/or textures.

Typical wraps, when cared for in the correct way, can last for between 5 to 10 years and do not harm or cause defects to the original bodywork upon removal.

A delightful customer and a delightful project to work on…..

This 13 year-old Land Rover came in for an enhancement detail. It was in all-round good condition but was showing obvious signs of wear-and-tear, especially in the form of swirl marks and minor scratches.

Following the standard preparation methods of thorough washing, rinsing, decontamination and claying, the bodywork was ready to go….. and there was a lot of it too!

These before and after shots show the improvement made by the 2-3 stage enhancement/correction.

Now after many hours of careful detailing, plus 2 layers of sealant topped off with a premium carnauba wax, the results are pretty good!

Detailing a car: Portfolio shots of a Lexus RX400h detail.

So this Lexus Hybrid was brought to JM valeting’s facility in need of a make-over detail. However, on initial inspection it was clear that the bodywork was in need of some greater care and attention in order to bring it closer to its former glory.

You will see from the photos below, the bodywork had been repeatedly attacked by the swirl monster for a number of years, and so ‘restoration’ wasn’t going to be easy.

A couple of days later, complete with enhancement detail, protective bodywork sealant, alloy sealant, following all the required decontamination procedures, the finished result was a huge improvement…………

Car Detailing Stories – The tale of the Sap Monster

Hello All,

Here is an account of a Renault Captur, which was brought to JM Valeting having received a severe aerial bombardment from the Sap Monster!

Despite only being approximately 18 months old the car was covered in sap residue – mainly on the bonnet and roof – and much of which had solidified over a considerable period of time.

I counted between 30-40 problem areas just on the bonnet and roof. And as you can see from the pictures below, the problems were severe, although the pictures do not do justice to how much the sap had ruined the overall look of the vehicle.

The first stage of the rectification process was the obvious full wash, involving pre-rinse, snow foam, 2-bucket wash and final rinse. Following this I began the careful and slow process of ridding the car of the sap. Using a combination of all-purpose cleaners and specialist products I very gradually began to remove the affected areas one by one, taking care of the paintwork underneath in the process.

Some time later the bulk of the sap residue had been removed, but just as I had suspected the inevitable etching had remained, as you can see from the pics below.

A careful removal of the remaining contaminants with a clay bar was the next step, allowing the bodywork to be as smooth and contaminant-free as possible prior to machine polishing. Once complete, although the etching is still visible, at least there are no more nasties lurking around.

The previous stages were also then carried out on the roof, which was in even worse condition than the bonnet!

Finally, a careful machine polish was carried out on the entire bonnet and roof, leaving a deep, glossy finish, and removing additional minor scratches in the process.

All in all, a very satisfying day’s work!
